The other is Good. GOOD FEED

It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, Loyalty ,Respect,Compassion,Honorable and faith."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather:

"Which wolf wins?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

Charities overwhelmed

The Australian Red Cross is no longer accepting donations of goods.

A number of local charities have also been overwhelmed and can no longer accept perishable goods.

The Red Cross is still gratefully accepting cash donations which can be made through our website at http://redcross.org.au or by calling 1800 811 700.

The Salvos, St Vincent De Paul and the Brotherhood of St Laurence are not taking goods at the moment either

Diamond Valley Baptist Church is no longer accepting non-perishable food items. They have been overwhelmed with the response from the public.

Whittlesea Christ Church is full - they are asking for no more donations.

The Geelong Fire Donations Centre at Breakwater is turning people away as they have no more storage space.

The following information was released by the Red Cross in response to the overwhleming level of donations they have received:

Red Cross is extremely grateful for the generosity shown by the Australian people who have donated in their hundreds of thousands to help people devastated by the bushfires in Victoria.

We understand that people are extremely keen to help out in any way they can and have been touched by the many offers of assistance we have received through our offices around the country.

We wish to remind people though, that unfortunately we are unable to accept offers of new or used goods.

We are not accepting goods because it often costs more to collect and transport than to purchase from local businesses.

These businesses have often also been badly impacted and can benefit from the activity. If we do identify a specific need we will make a public call.

In the meantime some other referral points are:

HIA has established a database for members where equipment, materials and offers of support can be registered. For more information on services required visit the HIA website.

The SES is also seeking large donations of tools and equipment to help in the recovery process. For more information call 9412 4411.

First aid kits needed

The Yea Relief Centre is looking for a corporate donor to assist with 400 first aid kits needed.

The Yarra Glen Relief Centre desperately need work clothes, including overalls, shirts and pants, work boots and tools of all sorts. Drop into the Yarra Glen Memorial Hall.

Meanwhile, the Whittlesea aid centre at Walkers Reserve say they do not need any more donations at present.

There are a number of ways you can offer help to pets, stock, horses and wildlife.

To help with wildlife rescue please contact Wildlife Victoria.

To offer help with agistment contact or donations of feed:

Triple R Equine Welfare Crisis Network

Animal Aid

Animal Aid in Coldstream need Hard Feed for horses (eg. Oats, loosen Hay, horse protein). You can drop donations off at the building (Animal Aid, 35 Killara Rd Coldstream 3770) or ph: 9739 0300 to organise collection.

The RSPCA are no longer calling for goods to help with their efforts, but they would appreciate more cash donations to help support animals affected in the bushfires. For more information visit the RSPCA website.

Electricians who can volunteer their time and services have been asked to get in touch with the ETU and register their details. Call 03 8329 0000 and ask to speak to bushfire volunteer coordinator Brett Buckingham.

Large food donations

Vic Relief Food Bank in Yarraville is responsible for coordinating the collection and distribution of large / commercial quantities of food.

Please direct all contributions to the Vic Relief Food Bank so distribution can be appropriately targeted and call Mike Cannon on 9362 8300 before dropping off. Non perishables very important for longer term needs.

Wanted Singers, Performers, Talented people for the ONLINE webathon for this Sunday 22nd February 2009 from 11am NSW time zone.

Make your requests for your favourite song or singer that is in the room or even on paltalk to be performed live in the room.

However you have to pay your chosen nominated donation to the recommended advertised association/s to be performed.

All money raised will go towards the bushfire appeal, so if you can, log in to the advertised paltalk room or tune into the radio website to listen and try to donate.

You can send requests through the room on paltalk or through a text message to me on paltalk.
